Stylish Living - Herald Feature

Last year I was contacted by Ann Fotheringham, features writer for The Glasgow Herald who had come across my work on Crafts Scotland. She was interested in writing a feature about me for their Stylish Living Magazine, at first I though someone was playing a joke on me and then realized it was for real. How nice to have someone want to write about your work. After a good 20 minutes on the phone blethering away and answering Ann's questions we were done, the following day a photographer came round to take photos of my loom and some of the work I have been developing. Lots has happened since then so stay posted for some exciting new Warped Textiles news. Thanks again to the Herald for their feature.

2013 Award Finalist

Having entered the 2013 Craft and Design Selected Awards, I have been lucky enough to be chosen as a finalist in the Textile category. The specialist judge for this category is Kaffe Fassett;

'Kaffe Fassett, best known the world over for his brilliant textile designs, is a renowned author of over 30 books on colour and inspiration in design. His work is mainly knitwear, printed fabrics, patchwork and needlepoint.
Kaffe is widely acknowledged as a visionary in the use of colour and was the first living textile artist to have a one person show at the Victoria & Albert Museum followed by a 6 part TV series on Channel 4 called 'Glorious Colour.'
He is the primary fabric designer for Rowan knitwear, Ehrman Needlepoint and fabric collections for Westminster fibres.
Kaffe's time is divided between travelling the globe lecturing and giving workshops and working in his Studio in North West London. For more information visit- http://www.kaffefassett.com/Home.html'

So not long to go now until the judges will be making their decision and the winners will be notified in May.

Eeekk, fingers crossed...

Here's a few pictures of my latest textiles,
the warp was a monster so some sectional
warping was required.
I used a beautiful lambswool and cotton mix
yarn to create some super soft blankets..

Thank you to everyone who came to visited my stall at the Lighthouse Christmas Market. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you all a fantastic 2013. It was great to see you and have such positive feed back. Now I must get back to my loom and get weaving again as it will soon be getting dismantled and rebuilt in our living room (much to my husbands dismay, sorry Mike).
New years resolution - Must find a studio space!
